We ask the right questions, then get out of the way

What we do

Check Life Quotes exists for one reason. Life insurance is priced on risk, a lot of that risk is about how you earn a living, and carriers disagree with each other about how much your job matters. A long haul driver, a roofer and someone at a desk can be the same age and the same health and get three different answers from the same company, and a completely different ranking of companies.

Nobody can see that from the outside. So we ask the handful of questions that decide it, work out which carriers are likely to be friendly to your trade, and introduce you to a licensed independent agent in your state who can shop it for you. That is where our part ends.

What we are not

This part matters more than anything else on the page, so it is stated plainly.

  • We are not an insurance company. We do not issue policies and we do not decide whether you are approved. Only a carrier does that.
  • We are not an insurance agency and we do not sell insurance. We do not hold a policy, quote a policy or bind coverage.
  • We do not give insurance advice. Nothing on this site is a recommendation about what you should buy. The four policy types described on the home page are descriptions, not suggestions.
  • Finishing the questions is not an application. It does not start one, it does not reserve anything, and it does not guarantee you will be offered coverage.

Everything that is actually insurance, the quoting, the advice and the application, is done by the licensed independent agent we introduce you to. They are licensed in your state and they are responsible for what they tell you.

How we get paid

You never pay us. There is no fee to use this site and no charge added to a policy for coming through it.

We are paid by the agent for the introduction. The agent is paid a commission by the insurance carrier if you buy a policy, which is how independent agents have always been paid, whether you find them through a site like this or walk into their office. Your rate is set by the carrier and is not higher because you came from here.

Why we ask about your work first

Most quote sites ask your age and your ZIP and then hand you a number that has nothing to do with your job. For an office worker that is close enough. For someone who drives for a living or works at height, it can be badly wrong in either direction, and finding that out at the application stage wastes weeks.

Asking up front is the whole point. It is the difference between being sent to a carrier that is comfortable with what you do and one that is not.

Your information

What you enter goes to the licensed agent we introduce you to, so they can prepare for the call. We do not sell your details to a list of buyers, and we are not a marketplace that resells the same enquiry to several agents. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is collected and what happens to it.
